Basic Information Everyone Needs to Know About Reopening
St. Patrick’s Church for Public Worship
(Revised and Updated - June 25, 2020)

Sunday Mass Obligation – Archbishop Leonard Blair has dispensed from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass every Catholic in the Archdiocese of Hartford, and unless otherwise announced, this dispensation will continue through Sunday, September 6, 2020.

When Will Mass Resume - As of Monday, June 8, 2020, St. Patrick’s Church re-opened for the public celebration of weekday Masses on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 11:00am. Beginning the weekend of July 4 & 5, 2020, St. Patrick’s Church will resume our regular weekend Mass schedule of Saturdays at 5:00pm and Sundays at 8:00am & 10:00am.  The 10:00am Mass will continue to be live streamed on Facebook until further notice.

Who Can Come - No more than a total of hundred (100) socially distanced persons or 25% capacity number of persons that the church can accommodate, whichever is less, may be present at a given Mass in keeping with the limitation currently set by the civil authorities.

Who Shouldn’t Come - The elderly, those with pre-existing conditions, those who are fearful or anxious, and those who are taking care of a sick or homebound person need not be concerned if they miss Mass as the dispensation from the Sunday obligation has now been extended. Anyone in those categories is asked to continue taking advantage of streaming Masses online as they stay home and stay safe.

What To Bring - Unless exempt, those attending Mass are required to wear masks or face coverings and are asked to bring hand sanitizer for use during the liturgy.

Social Distancing - Those attending Mass are required to keep proper social distancing while in the church. This will require everyone to remain 6 feet apart from anyone who is not a member of their household.

What About Confession - As of June 8, the Archdiocese of Hartford lifted the ban on publicly scheduled confessions. Beginning on June 15 and until further notice, confessions at St. Patrick’s Church will be held on Monday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00pm.  There will be no Saturday confessions at this time.  Please note that there will be no face to face, and no kneeler or seats.  You should stand behind the screen and wear a mask unless exempt because of health reasons.

Charity Demand: The Christian charity demands all of us to protect ourselves and others by attending to all the safety protocols and guidelines. It is also necessary that we pay special attention to the needs of the most vulnerable and at-risk members of our community.

As has been the case throughout the response to the coronavirus, St. Patrick’s Church will continue to track the situation surrounding the pandemic and will offer any and all updates deemed necessary to these current guidelines.
